The Opportunity

The Department of Transport (DoT) is seeking a dedicated Senior Governance and Policy Officer to join our Governance and Audit branch. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee and maintain our Corporate Governance and Policy Frameworks, ensuring alignment with our strategic and operational objectives. You will play a crucial role in shaping the governance landscape of DoT.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage DoT’s Governance Framework and ensure alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and contribute to governance and access and inclusion policies and initiatives.
  • Conduct research, policy analysis, and development to support compliance and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, and other written materials.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, participating in project teams, committees, and working groups.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing improvement of processes, practices, and systems.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in governance and/or policy roles within large and complex organisations.
  • High-level written communication skills, including effective report writing and the ability to present complex messages clearly.
  • Highly developed policy, conceptual, analytical, and research skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate and negotiate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
