The Role

This Service Technician position is responsible for providing customer and technical support for installed Security, CCTV, Access Control Systems, Intercom, Visitor Management Systems and other cloud based or IP systems. The position services and supports existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and performing installation and commissioning on minor works and small projects jobs.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”.

  • Respond to routine and non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls.

  • Analyse repair requirements and provide customer with appropriate solutions.

  • Complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed.

  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.

  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times.

  • May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution.

  • May install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.

  • Execute all service calls in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

  • Provide technical support to end users and field labour when applicable.

  • Proactively seek technical guidance from more experience staff for difficult and unusual situations.

  • Keep up to date and informed on all company products, services and policies.

  • Present a professional image of Convergint at all times in appearance and behaviour and seeks opportunities to promote the services offered by the company.

  • Communicate with and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Centre and company.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required. 

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Security Technician. With industry or trade qualifications

  • Have or Eligible to obtain a QLD Security Licence.

  • Experience with various EACS systems Gallagher, Integriti and Lenel preferred.

  • Experience in IT including IP CCTV, IP intercoms and networking experience with Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone preferred.

  • Car driver's licence.

  • Cabler’s licence

  • Construction Induction White Card

  • High attention to detail.

  • High level communication skills - written, oral.

  • Knowledge of Australian Standards applicable to the Security Industry.

  • Good planning and project management skills and the ability to prioritise issues and tasks.

  • An understanding of quality assurance principles and their application.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • A proficiency in MS Office applications.
