Anatomical Pathology - Cytology

- Part Time, 2 month fixed term position (Long Service leave ) - 40 hours per fortnight.
- Available for Medical Scientist Grade 2
- Based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), Parkville - varied role working in Cytology.
The Anatomical Pathology department at RMH is a NATA and RCPA accredited laboratory offering Histopathology and Cytopathology testing, as well as participation in multidisciplinary meetings, teaching, registrar training, research, and tissue banking.

Your new role:
- Perform routine Cytology duties including Cytopreparation, Cytology screening and report writing.
- Perform attendance of simple and complex procedures - FNA and ROSE
- Participate in staff meetings, self-education activities, internal & external training courses, and in clinical and scientific meetings.
About you:
- You hold a Bachelor of Applied Science with an Anatomical Pathology major (Histology/Cytology)
- You have experience working in an Anatomical Pathology laboratory working in Non-Gynae Cytology laboratory with extperience in Cytological techniques, including attending Biopsy and FNA procedures, screening and reporting.
- You have tertiary teaching hospital laboratory experience and are looking to expand your skills working across a variety of roles.
- You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development.
- You are well organised, self-motivated, and work well in a multidisciplinary team.
Upcoming changes to our pathology services:
Victorian Department of Health has endorsed the initiative to restructure existing public pathology by bringing together laboratories into pathology networks operating under a lead health service.
Pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital will transition to a single pathology service. This creates an exciting opportunity to strengthen the scope, scale and reach of pathology services across the Parkville precinct to benefit all Victorians.
This role will be part of the new centre of excellence that will be led by Melbourne Health.
