Identity & Access Security Engineer

We’re on the lookout for a skilled Identity and Access Security Engineer to strengthen a high-performing security team based in Sydney. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building scalable identity and access controls to defend critical systems and infrastructure.
  
As part of a lean and highly capable security group, you’ll be up against sophisticated threats using cutting-edge tools. To stay ahead, they focus on automation, strategic risk reduction, and increasing complexity for attackers at every layer. You’ll work closely with IT, platform, and product teams to elevate our security posture across both enterprise systems and embedded products, including offline, air-gapped hardware.
  
You’ll help shape and execute the Zero Trust roadmap, ensuring robust access controls and modern authentication protocols across users, devices, and services.

What You’ll Do:
•Lead initiatives to strengthen identity and access management across the organization
•Roll out phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions
•Design and implement Just-In-Time access to sensitive environments
•Build scalable identity systems for users, devices, and proprietary products
•Champion secure authentication practices, including for BYOD environments
•Solve large-scale, cross-functional challenges through thoughtful systems design
•Collaborate on product security features, including embedded systems authentication

What You Bring:
•Degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
•5+ years of hands-on experience in security, identity, or software engineering roles
•Proficiency in Python or Go for system development
•Deep understanding of authentication, authorisation, and cryptographic protocols (OAuth, SAML, etc.)
•Strong grasp of Zero Trust principles and related frameworks (e.g., BeyondCorp)
•Background in secure application design and infrastructure-as-code
•Fluent working in Linux-first environments and confident on the command line
•Experience with cloud environments and modern app architectures

•Experience in threat modelling and designing effective mitigations
•Clear communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts
•A mindset for scalable, secure-by-design systems
