FORKLIFT DRIVER

The Forklift Driver at Black Crow Organics is responsible for operating forklifts to safely move, stack, and transport organic produce and materials within the farm’s storage and processing areas. The role ensures efficient operations and the timely movement of products while maintaining the integrity of the organic goods and adhering to safety standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to safely transport and stack organic produce, equipment, and materials across the farm, including storage, packing, and processing areas.
• Transport organic goods to designated areas within the farm’s storage facilities, ensuring smooth movement of products.
• Ensure organic produce is stored in designated areas, making sure that items are easily accessible for packaging and shipping.
• Monitor forklift operation through gauges and instruments to ensure efficient and safe performance.
• Regularly inspect forklifts and other equipment for wear, damage, and proper functionality.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments to forklifts, keeping them in optimal working condition.
• Safely operate specialized equipment, if needed, to carry items beneath elevated frames or transport materials across uneven farm terrain.
• Follow strict safety protocols and use protective equipment to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
• Communicate with farm staff and supervisors to coordinate the efficient movement of organic products and materials.
• Assist with inventory management, ensuring the proper organization and labelling of organic products in storage areas.
• Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of farm storage areas, ensuring they meet food safety and organic certification standards.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications:

• AQF Certificate II or III (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
• At least one year of relevant experience
• Registration or licensing may be required

     Skills:

• Valid Forklift Licence (LF or LO class, depending on the equipment used).
• Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or farm setting.
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in forklift operation.
