We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Collgar Renewables. This Perth CBD based role is accountable for providing technical expertise and support for our developing wind farms, and optimising plant and assets for our existing wind farm as key member of the engineering team.

Task & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Optimise wind farm asset performance by defining and implementing short and long-term asset management plans, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Proactively identify, propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives for Balance of Plant and wind turbine availability and performance, including reduction of outage durations, that ensures asset protection.
  • Schedule and conduct corrective and preventive maintenance activities on the basis of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals & standard operating procedures (SOP’s). 
  • Ensure technical compliance, mitigate asset breaches, undertaking risk assessments and implementing control measures as needed. 
  • Conduct thorough investigations and resolution of plant breakdowns, faults and other relevant events.
  • Analyse wind farm operational data and wind farm component performance through SCADA to assess reliability, availability and compliance with specifications.
  • Develop strategies to cut operational costs and keep up to date with industry trends to continuously improve and optimise electrical systems.
  • Interpret technical drawings and equipment selections based on technical specifications associated with potential wind farms that contributes toward tender, procurement and development processes.
  • Prepare and submit development applications and relevant approvals to Western Power and AEMO for new wind farms.
  • Preliminary technical design of potential wind farms, taking into account land ownership, environmental, sustainability, and cultural heritage considerations.
  • Provision of technical support in wind farm design and development for internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards.
  • Engage with relevant government and technical authorities, primarily AEMO and Western Power, OEM’s (AMSC and Vestas) and specialist consultants, suppliers and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders that contributes to Collgar’s culture of enthusiasm and inclusivity.
Qualification & Experience

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification, registered with Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive electrical engineering experience, specifically in technical drawings, operations, asset maintenance, and development of wind farms.
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy site operations for wind farms.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant electrical Australian Standards.
  • Understanding of local government processes and technical rules, ideally Western Power and AEMO.
  • Experience with site communication systems, preferably SCADA.
  • Advanced MS Office computer skills, in particular Excel and Visio.
