Job description

The Schools of Early Learning are leaders in child care and are passionate and committed to providing an environment that enriches each child and allows them to reach their potential.

We are currently seeking a confident and creative Chef for our West Leederville centre to prepare healthy and nutritious home-style meals for children aged 6mths - 6yrs. You will help prepare morning tea, a hot lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.

This is a permanent position working Monday - Friday 7.30am - 4pm.

SOEL Chef responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Help develop and create food menus that meet nutritional guide lines and cater to childrens dietary needs
  • Prepare meals for children from 6mths to 6yrs using fresh, high quality ingredients while adhering to food safety and hygiene guidelines
  • Manage inventory of food supplies, order ingredients as needed, and ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items
  • Provide direction, training, and support for kitchen staff members
  • Help and oversee internal and external food audits
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Understanding of allergens regarding procedure of cooking and storage
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area

The successful applicant will have:

  • Diploma of Hospitality management or approved equivalent qualification
  • An understanding of compliance/audits
  • A current food handling certificate
  • A current Working with Children Card or be willing to obtain one
  • Experience cooking in a Child Care Centre or similar environment would be highly regarded
  • Minimum 2yrs of relevant experience
  • Current work rights for Australia
